Deliberate Zoning

My objective is to ensure that the growth of Apex is carried out in a sustainable, thoughtful, and deliberate manner. I support an approach that encompasses a balanced mix of high- and low-density residential developments, as well as economically and visually appealing commercial developments. By strictly enforcing our zoning requirements, we can demonstrate our commitment to providing housing options for individuals across various income levels, preserving and creating green spaces, and prioritizing commercial development along major thoroughfare corridors.

 

To reduce reliance on cars and promote accessibility, I advocate for establishing higher density residential developments in proximity to transportation facilities near the core of Apex. Simultaneously, this will curtail urban sprawl, particularly in the western areas of Apex, where I prefer lower density development closer to Jordan Lake.

 

My vision supports commercial developments that contribute to job creation within our town. By prioritizing commercial growth, we can prevent Apex from becoming solely a "bedroom community" and establish a more balanced tax base, which helps to maintain lower property taxes. To minimize traffic congestion on local roads, I endorse the development of commercial sites along major thoroughfares such as US-1 and US-64.

 

As Apex grows, I am committed to seeking land acquisition opportunities to expand our parks and supplement them with smaller green spaces. Additionally, to preserve the historical charm that defines Apex, I fully support efforts to preserve the historic downtown area and individual historic structures dispersed throughout the town. Preserving our heritage is crucial to maintaining Apex's unique character.

 

By adhering to these principles, we can ensure that the growth of Apex is sustainable, respects our community's needs, and safeguards the essence that makes this town exceptional.
